Unstoppable Messi's Miami destroyed Atlanta 4-0 (video)
Messi scored two of the goals in the 4-0 win against Atlanta United in the Leagues Cup, scoring twice in the first 22 minutes of the game.
Messi scored two of Miami's goals in a 4-0 win over Atlanta United in the Leagues Cup, finding the net twice in the first 22 minutes of the game. His first goal came from a pass from Sergio Busquets, and Messi's first chance hit the post before his second attempt finding the net, while Taylor assited Messi for his second goal 15 minutes later.
Then it was Taylor's turn to take control of the game, putting the ball into Brad Guzan's net with a powerful volley from a wide position to make it 3-0 just before half-time, before Messi returned the favor helping Taylor make it 4-0.
Messi wasn't the only World Cup winner on the pitch, as Atlanta also had their own Argentine star, Thiago Almada. While his Argentine opponent was impressive, Almada dissapointed by missing a last-minute penalty as Atlanta tried to salvage something from this game. Almada wasn't at his best in this one, although he didn't cause problems for Miami's defense, but in general the Atlanta team was beaten very easily.
With the win, Miami can now prepare for the next round and the knockout games, which will begin the first weekend of August.
MVP of the match: Is there any doubt? Of course not! It was Messi, of course, who showed how quickly this Miami team changed. His ability to score wasn't the only thing that made the difference, although he has showed it twice, but the space he creates for his teammates was a big factor and showed the difference in Messi's class on the pitch, especially for Taylor to be the biggest "winner" from it as the Finnish star made one of his best performances in a Miami jersey.
